Encounter and enjoy the 12 Days of trekking to five holy lakes through unharmed traditional villages in spectacular Himalayan landscapes. This awesome trek to Panch Pokhari which initiates at the base of Jungal Himal offers spotless mountain views, rich culture and genuine escapade. This area which lies in northeast of Kathmandu offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty, and biological diversity. You will trek to a group of high altitude holy lakes, sacred to Buddhist and Hindu people. Panch Pokhari which means Five Lakes and has been named after 5 glacial lakes discovered in this region. The lakes are designated as wetland areas and holds utmost significance for the nourishment of local biodiversity. Panch Pokhari is also one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas, equally honored by both Buddhists and Hindus. The Tamang Community (Shamans) is witnessed visiting these lakes in the month of August during the festival of Janai Purnima. The Festival draws hundreds of villagers to offer their respects and prayers to their local Gods.

Panch Pokhari Trek can be arranged both a camping as well as home-stay trek. The trek starts from Chautara at an elevation of 1200m passing through charming villages and rolling green hills. We will be visiting Buddhist monasteries and learn about Tamang & Sherpa culture and customs. The trek is also exceptionally rich in bio-diversity. Rhododendrons, Nepal’s national flower and Danfe which is Nepal’s national bird, are both found in Panch Pokhari area. There are plenty historical places, waterfalls and caves waiting for you to explore. Settled at an elevation range of 4100m, Panch Pokhari offers embellished and stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal Himal, Rolwaling and Gaurishanker ranges. The best months to trek Panch Pokhari ranges from the month of February to May and August to November. The trek is graded as moderate trek, which ensures to be suitable for all ages and experience.

Experience Life in the Village Homes

The first night will ensure an experience of the life in the village homes of Sherpa and Tamang people, your guide will give a short talk and discuss on trekking, altitude sickness and the highlights of the trek. The trek pledges the Five Holy Lakes, the incredible scenery of the Himalaya and the lifestyle of nomadic people which remains unchanged by time. The remarkable climatic and environmental mix makes this area a naturalist’s dream and possibly The Mecca for those who appreciate traditional cultures.

Trek Starts From 1,400 m And Goes Up to 4,000m. This trek starts from the altitude of 1,400 m and goes up to 4,000m at Panch Pokhari. The top of Panch Pokhari (4100m) offers an excellent view of Jugal Himal Range, Rolwaling Range, Gosainkund, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. This trek is for all round year except for monsoon.

Day 03: Trek from Chautara to Phurse ( 2218 m/ 7275 ft) 5-6 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 04: Trek from Phurse to Kami Kharka (2985 m/ 9791 ft) 4-5 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 05: Trek from Kami Kharka to Pauwa Bas (3315 m/ 10,873 ft), 6-7 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 06: Trek from Pauwa Bas to Hille Banjyang (3720 m/ 12,202 ft) 6-7 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 07: Trek from Hille Banjyang to Nasim Pati (3631 m/ 11,910 ft) 4-5 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Nasim Pati to Panch Pokhari (4060 m/ 13,317 ft) 4-5 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 09: Rest at Five Lakes to explore the beauty of the lakes and backdrop of the lake, communicate with the local people and learn their culture and ethnicity in detail. Tea House Accommodation.

Day 10: Trek from Panch Pokhari to Nasim Pati (3631 m/11,910 ft) 3-4 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 11: Trek from Nasim Pati to Dukang (2310 m/ 7577 ft) 6-7 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 12: Trek from Dukang to Dhap (1250 m/4100 ft)  6-7 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 13: Trek from Dhap to Melamchi Pul (870 m/ 2850 ft) 6-7 hrs, Tented Camp Accommodation.

Day 14: Drive from Melamchi Pul to Kathmandu 4-5 hrs, Hotel Accommodation.

Day 15: Departure to International Airport.

We will transfer you to the international airport for your flight back home. Approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight, our representatives from Great Adventure Treks will drop you off at the airport. Your confirmed air ticket as well as other necessary travel documents should be with you before you leave for the airport. Great Adventure Treks could also arrange another tour for you in Nepal if you want to.
