Mardi Himal Trek Introduction
Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively new trek in Nepal, unlike classic treks like Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp trek: it is easy and full of adventure. It lies on the Annapurna region and is bordered with two of the big rivers of Nepal: Kaligandaki and Marshyangdi. This trail is full of flora and fauna and you will be amazed by the wonderful evergreen forest and snowy path. You will be able to view snowy mountains like Mardi Himal, Mt. Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Mt. Hiunchuli. For almost 10 days you will be walking through the green forest then you will reach toward a snowy path that will lead you to High Camp from where you will be able to view majestic mountain peaks which will absolutely blow your mind.
Permits Required for Mardi Himal Trek
Two permits are an absolute necessity if you are thinking of Mardi Himal trek. The first one is the Annapurna Conservation Area(ACA) permit and Tourism Information Management System(TIMS) permit. You can ask your travel agency or travel guide for these permits.
Best Seasons for Mardi Himal Trek
Spring and Autumn season are the best seasons to trek around Mardi Himal. You will have amazing weather and the temperature is perfect to trek during these seasons. These seasons will have an amazing weather and the temperature is moderate so you can trek easily during the day and view wonderful mountains peaks during the morning and evening. During Spring season the maximum temperature is around 25°C and the minimum temperature is around 8°C. During Autumn season the temperature during the day is around 20°C and the temperature during morning and evening is 5°C. During these seasons the weather is perfect and you can easily view mountains from a long distance. The sky is clear and the path is not slippery and can be easily trekked.
This trek will take you 8 days to complete, it can also be completed in 7 days if you are already in Pokhara. The outline itinerary is as below:
Day 01: Drive to Pokhara (827m) (6-7 hrs) drive
Day 02: Drive to Phedi and trek to Deurali (2100m) 30 minutes drive, (4-5 hrs) trek
Day 03: Deurali to forest camp (2520m) (6-7 hrs)
Day 04: Forest Camp to low camp (2970m) (5-6 hrs)
Day 05: Low camp to high camp (3540m) (3-4 hrs)
Day 06: High camp to upper viewpoint (4250m) return back to High Camp (2-3 hrs)
Day 07: High camp to Sidhing Village (1700m) (6-7 hrs)
Day 08: Trek to Lumre (2-3 hrs), drive to Pokhara(35 minute) drive
We can easily say that Mardi Himal Trek is the easiest long day trek in Nepal. You can enjoy the majestic view of 4 different mountains from a single point and will be able to walk in the wonderful trail of evergreen forest. Be sure to carry some necessary equipment like hiking shoes, a hiking stick and a trekking bag.
